48’ Seconds

” What if the body never stops? What if the body never lands?”
At age 37, I realized I had lived (including temporary and permanent addresses) in over 40 different places. When I converted my age (37) into minutes, I found a correlation. It was as if I had moved every 48 seconds.
My experience of moving from one place (country, house, city) to another is not an exclusive phenomenon. In fact, it happens to everyone, to a lesser or greater extent, in a forced or voluntary manner, and an infinite number of reasons can cause it: personal desires, external forces, and so on.
The feeling of not stopping, of not having a break to rest, to breathe, or to feel (not) really grounded and connected to somewhere or someone, are the catalytic inputs in my search for a physicality that lies on the borderline between the vibrating body and the experience of contemplation.
In this way, in my dance piece “48”, I pose the above questions as a metaphor to talk about the transience of bodies in contemporary times. It is also an invitation to reflect on identity, uncertainty and belonging.
